SignLink June/July 2025 - Issue 259

26 email: editor@signlink.co.uk Issue 259 - June / July 2025 What does the BSGA offer to the industry? The BSGA has been supporting the sign industry for over a century, originally established to uphold quality and consistency in signage. Today, we continue that mission by working with organisations like BSI and the education sector to promote best practices and set standards. One of the biggest changes we’ve made is becoming more inclusive. We now represent everyone from solo installers to large multinationals. We provide a platform for knowledge sharing, peer support, and networking that helps businesses of all sizes grow and evolve. It’s about giving people access to a broader community, whether you're just starting out or scaling up. Why are you supporting The Sign Show this year? We see The Sign Show as a powerful tool for education and engagement within the industry. Events like this bring together the entire supply chain in one space. It’s an incredibly efficient way to absorb new ideas, meet potential collaborators, and stay on top of trends. I’ve always loved shows for the real conversations they enable. You often get insights during a five-minute chat on a stand that you wouldn’t get anywhere else. It’s also an opportunity to help businesses spot opportunities they might not realise are just around the corner. In your opinion, why does the industry need a new event like this? It’s simple: people will turn up to things they find relevant. And I believe The Sign Show is working hard to be exactly that. The buzz I’ve seen online shows there’s real energy and appetite for something fresh. Yes, exhibitions come at a cost for exhibitors, but when a show is well-promoted and well-attended, it becomes worthwhile. The more footfall, the more connections, and the more value for everyone involved. It’s a chance to be part of something with momentum, and the timing, just before Q4 kicks off, makes it ideal for planning and investment decisions. What will you be doing at The Sign Show? The BSGA will be running a ‘Sign Surgery’ on our stand, offering advisory sessions for anyone with questions, whether they're new to the industry or seasoned professionals. Sometimes, people don’t feel comfortable asking questions online or over the phone. But face-to-face, those conversations come much more naturally. We aim to be a neutral source of guidance, and if we can’t help directly, we’ll point people to someone in the sector who can, someone who’s walked the same path and can give honest feedback, not just glossy sales talk. It’s about real-world advice from people who’ve done it. Why should people come to and support this year's debut event? Because everything is under one roof. It’s not just about big printers; there’ll be hands-on workshops, live demos, neon bending, signwriting, vinyl wrapping, and more. These are the kinds of things you don’t fully grasp until you see them in action. It’s a brilliant opportunity to explore new techniques or even partner with someone who already has the kit you’re considering. And because it's new, the energy and openness to share experiences will be high. You won’t get that from a website or a brochure; you get it by showing up. Is there anything else you'd like to add? Just this: come and spend real time talking to people on the stands. Some of the best insights come from informal conversations. Don’t be afraid to ask questions; chances are, others are wondering the same thing. Whether you’re looking to enhance your offering or just understand the direction the industry is heading, you’ll leave with something valuable. That’s what these shows are all about! Ahead of hosting a live Sign Surgery throughout The Sign Show 2025, we spoke with Craig Brown, chairman of the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA), about the event and why people should consider attending BSGA to give clean bill of health at Sign Surgery We see The Sign Show as a powerful tool for education and engagement within the industry By Rob Fletcher Craig Brown has worked with the BSGA for more than 25 years EVENTS - / NEWS SignLink SignLinkMagazine printmonthly_signlink Q Q Q Q Q Q
