ThreeFiveFour chose the 2017 model of the CX 102-5+L, remarketed and supplied directly by HEIDELBERG through its remarketed equipment programme. The investment will reportedly double the company’s printing capacity through the efficiency improvements it provides. The 2017 generation remains highly sought after in the used equipment market, offering five printing units and a dedicated coating unit with an anilox roller system. The press boasts a maximum production speed of 16,500 sheets per hour, with maximum sheet size of 720mm × 1,020mm. The installation marks a major milestone in ThreeFiveFour’s growth strategy, allowing the business to scale output without proportionally increasing labour or production time. The company has outlined that the new press allows customers to benefit from cheaper pricing, speedier production, and greater capacity. HEIDELBERG’s remarketed equipment programme is designed to give customers access to expertly refurbished pre-owned presses, backed directly by the manufacturer. Although ThreeFiveFour had previously explored pre-owned equipment through dealers, the complexity and sophistication of the CX 102-5+L made them decide that direct manufacturer support was a critical factor in the purchasing decision. The Imaging Centre invests in B2 HP Indigo Family-run greeting card producer, The Imaging Centre, has expanded its production capabilities with the installation of a HP Indigo 18K digital press, giving the business additional capacity and helping it keep pace with a growing need for print-on-demand (POD) greeting cards. The latest investment in the HP Indigo 18K Digital Press builds on the company’s earlier move into B2 digital production, with the aim of increasing productivity and reducing downtime to help the business respond more quickly to customer needs. As these demands have continued to evolve, more work is now being produced on the company’s B2 platform than its SRA3 presses. This transition has already transformed the scale of work the business can undertake, increasing its largest individual order from 20,000 greeting cards to 280,000 cards. Following several weeks of installation, testing, and fine-tuning, the new offset press is now fully operational and reportedly delivering significant improvements in speed, quality control, and production efficiency. The multi-million-pound investment increases the company’s production capacity for customers across the UK including businesses, charities, design agencies, print management companies, and trade partners. The Komori G837P Advance EX Edition is an eight-colour convertible perfecting offset printing press designed for double-sided commercial printing. The new press, which was first announced globally at drupa 2024, features advanced automation technology capable of monitoring print quality in real time, which is designed to reduce waste, improve consistency, and increase productivity. The Autopilot system checks every printed sheet for colour and compares each sheet to the customers artwork file, with the installation representing the first time such a technology was installed in the UK. SRA1 sheets can be printed on both sides at 15,000 sheets per hour, equating to 240,000 A4 pages per hour, enabling Selsey Press to produce larger and more complex print projects at greater efficiency. Selsey Press operates with a strong commitment to sustainable printing practices, using FSC-certified papers with recycled content wherever possible, as well as renewable energy generated through on-site solar panels. The new press aims to further support these ambitions through improved efficiency, reduced waste, and lower energy consumption per printed page.
