Hello and welcome to Print Monthly September/October! Has it been a year already? That’s right, The Print Show is back for its tenth edition, this time taking place in Hall 1 of the NEC in Birmingham, giving plenty of room for the biggest show yet. Fittingly this also a jam-packed edition as we have lots of useful and interesting articles to not only get you ready for The Print Show but also give food for thought ahead of any teams talks or networking opportunities. While this is a great chance to preview everything we’ll be doing at this year’s show and what you can expect in this edition of Print Monthly, I first must mention the man that started all of this. Print Monthly was founded under Link Publishing which was formed in 1992 by Page Tuck who started the publication as Repro Link which provided a valuable resource for the industry to seek services and equipment. The publication later evolved into Print Monthly as it’s known today, having established itself as a well-known and far-reaching title for the print industry. At the beginning of the year Print Monthly (along with SignLink) was acquired by Koru Media, which would start the transition of Page retiring and moving onto pastures new. This past month saw Page officially start his retirement which led to staff at Print Monthly past and present getting together to celebrate his career and everything he started. Like all editors before me, as well as those in attendance at the celebration, we would likely not be working in this industry if it were not for Page – so on behalf of all staff new and old I’d like to thank Page for his dedication and hard work in making the brands of Link Publishing what they are today. Good luck in your retirement and new ventures Page! Speaking about new chapters, this edition is filled with new content and insight into how the industry is changing. This edition’s news is also filled with stories of acquisitions, purchases, and events that showcase the best of the industry. Giving his thoughts on the power of print is Mark Stephenson in his new column – The Gospel According to Mark (page 61). On page 58 Rachael Hunt gives her insight into the social media ban set to affect not only how young people consume media, but also how brands market their products. On top of this we of course have previews of all things Print Show, alongside our usual features about hardware, software, and business advice. Happy reading and see you at the show!
