Founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and David Packard, Hewlett-Packard was an American multinational information technology company that later was split into Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and HP Inc in 2015. While HPE focuses on servers, storage, networking, AI, and consulting, HP continued to produce PCs, printers, and related supplies. Although HP is largely known by consumers for its home products, HP’s business solutions includes a large portfolio of different offerings, especially under its Commercial Printing umbrella. This includes enterprise printers, industrial presses, 3D printers, large-format printers, and construction services. Speaking about HP, Colin Easton, UK and Ireland Large Format Print country lead at HP, says: “HP has a long history in printing technology, with its graphics solutions business evolving over decades alongside the changing needs of the print and signage industries. “Built on HP’s expertise in imaging, computing, and digital workflows, the business was created to help print service providers (PSPs) transition toward digital production and unlock new growth opportunities. Today, HP supports customers globally across large-format print, signage, décor, and graphics applications.” To find out more about how HP operates today, and the technologies it is bringing and updating within the market, Print Monthly speaks to Easton, who tells us about the values, products, and investments that make up the company. The HP Values When it comes to what HP’s Large Format division offers, Easton says the company offers a broad portfolio of print hardware, workflow software, and automation tools for PSPs of various sizes. This includes the HP Latex and DesignJet printers, as well as workflow solutions like HP PrintOS Production Hub. “We work closely with customers to help them improve efficiency, simplify production, and expand into new applications,” says Easton. “As production environments become more complex, there is growing demand for workflow automation and platforms that connect production, order management, and job tracking within one system.” Currently the company operates globally across several offices, including HP UK’s headquarters in Reading. HP also operates its two Graphics Experience Centers, with one based in Georgia, USA, and the other in Barcelona, Spain. In the UK, the company also has a customer-facing innovation space called the HP Customer Welcome Centre at The Gherkin in London, where Ahead of its appearance at The Print Show 2026, Print Monthlytakes a look at the history and current objectives of hardware and software provider, HP, in order to explore how the company sees its role in the print and signage industries, and how it can help its customers improve their businesses Growing Beyond Hardware – HP’s Aim to Simplify Production Our strategy is built around three core principles: helping customers deliver stunning print quality, streamline production workflows, and operate more sustainably SUPPLIER SPOTLIGHT | 38 Issue 361 - July | August 2026 email: editor@printmonthly.co.uk ► Colin Easton, UK and Ireland Large Format Print country leadat HP
